Libraries Closing for Training
on
The public and community college libraries in Tillamook and Lincoln Counties are closing for one day, Thursday, April 24, 2008, for staff training.
The Coastal Resource Sharing Network, is a consortium of Tillamook and Lincoln County libraries that share an electronic catalog of library materials, www.beachbooks.org . All of the libraries honor each other’s library cards and share access to several databases that include periodical articles, downloadable books and lots of other information. To help all of us better serve you we have planned this first ever shared training day. The training will take place at the new Tillamook County Library. The day features keynote speaker, Jim Scheppke, State Librarian of Oregon, who will speak on the history and future of library service in Oregon. Other parts of the training includes sessions on adult programs for libraries presented by Driftwood library staff, futurists in libraries presented by Newport Library staff, reference database use training by Tillamook Library staff, and a look at current books to recommend to library users presented by Lincoln County Library District staff.
Participating libraries include: Driftwood (Lincoln City), Lincoln County Library District, Newport, Oregon Coast Community College, Siletz, Tillamook Bay Community College, Tillamook County, Toledo, and Waldport.
The catalog, databases, and downloadable audio books will continue to be available online at www.beachbooks.org .
All libraries will open on Friday, April 25 at the usual time.
